The Mommyish.com website put out 5 stages of erratic kid behavior to expect during hurricane Sandy.
This is what your kids will probably go through if there's no power and you're trapped at home for days:

  • Elation: No school! It's like Christmas break, but for Halloween!
  • The Happy Helper: Nothing is more exciting than a storm, and they're more than happy to help you stack cans and check the batteries in the flashlights
  • The Calm: The house feels so relaxed as the kids dive into their video games or books. Maybe they'll just stare out the window at the storm. Ahhhhh....
  • Terror: Loud wind and rain brings out the tears. You tell them everything will be fine. They don't believe you.
  • and finally...Hyper Insane: You break out a package of Gummy Bears or sugar cookies -- which you soon regret. The kids are crawling up the walls and speaking an alien language. You think about opening the door and letting them out in the storm for a while. It's not that bad...is it?

What you think has this happen to you of any natural disaster? Let us know...
